Students be sure to get some time for yourself
The holidays are coming, but so are finals etc. Too much studying and not enough rest will not make you more productive, in fact it will make you less productive.
German neurologist, Hans Berger found that the brain is always in a state of considerable activity, even when sleeping or relaxing. This is obvious as your heart keeps beating and you keep breathing. The brain needs some downtime. Downtime replenishes the brains stores of attention and motivation. It encourages creativity and productivity, and is important to gain the highest levels of performance.
While I always encourage learning while driving with audiobooks etc, there is also a time to give it a rest. Listen to a good book while driving or a motivational person who overcame and beat the odds. Balance with exercise and a proper diet will also help your brain retain more information. A brisk walk while thinking about the endocrine system may not sound like the most enjoyable subject, however, you will notice that the subject itself is much easier to conceptualize while taking that brisk walk.
So as you feel the stress coming on, stop record some of your notes and go for a walk. You may find it not so bad.
Thank you to the nursing class of 2015 for the above photo.
