The best nurses are leaders not managers

I have to say that in all my years of nursing, I have always respected the “Manager” who was more of a “Leader”. The leader is the one who puts the gloves on and gets into the trenches with her/his team. I has always given these leaders 110% as maybe I felt some guilt that they had to come out of the office and help, but also some pride that I had the best manager in the world.  The old saying will always apply.  Managers Manage and Leaders Lead.  I always remember the wonderful team work that lead to the way she managed and I will always try to follow in her footsteps.
